What is a buylist?

A buylist is what a card shop will pay you today for your cards: you sell straight to the store instead of listing to other players.

Buylisting is a popular way for trading card game (TCG) players and collectors to sell their cards directly to game stores and online retailers. Instead of selling cards individually to other players, buylisting lets you sell your entire collection or specific cards in bulk to businesses that specialize in buying and reselling TCG cards.

How buylisting works

1. Get prices. Retailers list the current buying price, which often varies by set, printing or edition, foil, and card condition.
2. Build your cart. You build your buylist using a shopping cart — like online shopping, but in reverse.
3. Ship your cards. After checkout, you ship your cards to the retailer according to their instructions, often with free shipping on orders over a certain amount.
4. Get paid. After the retailer verifies the condition and authenticity of your cards, you receive payment.

Cash or store credit

Retailers pay by check, PayPal, Zelle or store credit, and most add a bonus to the credit rate, so the same cards are worth more if you spend the payout back at the shop. Which option wins depends on whether you want the money out or plan to buy again.
